I liked Carol very much. She spoilt John so much that I kept asking her to adopt me as well. She had a great sense of humour and was an amazing seamstress, cook and home maker. She had a tough time in the last few years, with her health, but showed great strength and always preferred talking about her lovely family more than herself. One of my favourite photographs of Carol is with June Smith back in 2012; happy and laughing the pair of them. That's how I'll remember Carol.

I am I and you are you, whatever we were to each other that we still are.
Speak to me in the easy way which you always used.
Why should I be out of mind because I am out of sight?
Life means all that it ever meant, it is the same as it ever was.
